Frequently Asked Questions
What is Unum?
Unum is church management software built specifically for Catholic parishes. Unlike generic church software designed for Protestant congregations, Unum handles the unique needs of Catholic communities—from sacramental records and family relationship tracking to diocesan stewardship reporting. We’re building software that understands how parishes actually operate.
When will Unum be available?
We’re currently in active development with our pilot partner, St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Wichita, Kansas. We’re taking a deliberate approach to ensure we build software parishes can trust with their most important data. Expected availability: 2026. If you’d like to learn more or express interest for your parish, contact us.
What makes Unum different from other church management software?
Most church management systems were built for Protestant churches or are aging legacy systems that don’t understand Catholic parish needs. Unum is purpose-built for Catholic parishes with features like permanent sacramental record management, complex family relationship tracking (including shared custody and blended families), and Diocese of Wichita stewardship reporting. We implement enterprise-grade security, including Always Encrypted for sensitive parishioner data.
What features does Unum include?
Unum provides comprehensive parish management capabilities:
- Member Registry with Catholic-specific household and family relationship management
- Sacramental Records with permanent, secure storage and certificate generation
- Stewardship & Giving with diocesan reporting (Diocese of Wichita format)
- Communication Tools for staying connected with parishioners
- Analytics & Reporting for parish leadership insights
Visit our Features page for complete details.
Does Unum work for small parishes?
Yes! We’re designing Unum to serve parishes of all sizes, from small rural parishes to large urban communities. Our modular pricing approach means even small parishes can access professional-grade tools without paying for features they don’t need.
Is our data secure?
Absolutely. We use enterprise-grade security including Always Encrypted for sensitive parishioner information, secure cloud hosting with Azure, and regular encrypted backups. Your parish data belongs to you—we never sell or share it with third parties. We take the responsibility of protecting parishioner information seriously.
How do we migrate our existing data?
We’ll guide your parish through the data migration process. We can accept data from spreadsheets (Excel, Google Sheets), legacy church management systems like ParishSoft or PDS, and other formats. We’ll help map your existing data to Unum’s structure and ensure nothing is lost in the transition—especially critical records like sacramental histories.
Do we need to be tech-savvy to use Unum?
No. We’re designing Unum for busy parish staff who may not be technical experts. Our interface is intuitive, and we’ll provide training, documentation, and support to help your team feel confident using the system.
Can Unum be customized for our parish’s specific needs?
Yes. While Unum is built around Catholic parish best practices, we understand every parish operates differently. We offer customizable fields, workflows, and reporting to adapt to your parish’s unique situation.
How much does Unum cost?
We’re finalizing our pricing structure to ensure it’s accessible to parishes of all sizes. We’ll offer modular pricing so you only pay for the features you need. Pricing details will be available as we approach our 2026 launch. Contact us if you’d like to discuss your parish’s specific needs.
